The DSoTM variant I have is comfortable for me, but a little more noticeable than a regular-sized Speedmaster. The lightness of the case is helpful though -- it's not heavy at all. My wrist is average sized, maybe slightly bigger.

The 44.25mm ceramic cased Alinghi is the same case as the Apollo 8 version. It's an easy watch to wear, no problem on my 7.5" wrist. It's noticeably thinner than the automatic versions, too, so that is a plus.

You say you can get the Alinghi at a 'good price', it all depends on what a good price is. Is it new or pre-owned? Personally I could never understand the reason for the Alinghi watch which is probably why it was discontinued just three years after introduction. The Apollo 8 uses the same base movement, which is based on the 1861, and is just a better execution and more attractive, imo. If the Alinghi you are being offered is pre-owned I'd cross shop against a used Apollo 8, and if the prices are similar I'd go for the Apollo 8 every time.

I had this piece at one point and I really regret selling it, but I had to at the time as it wasn’t getting wrist time. Great piece!

My Apollo 8 DSOTM fits and looks great but then again, I do like bigger watches. Whilst the meaning behind the Alinghi might not make sense to some, if you like/prefer the red accents then go for it, especially if you feel it's a good deal!

I will say that the laser ablated detail of the moon features is an extra special and cool feature of the black/yellow Apollo 8.
