I had my 1996 Speedmaster Date (caliber 1152) serviced in 2010 at a cost of $750. I posted another thread here recently about trying to pick a watch service that was a bit easier on the budget. I contacted a local watchmaker who is associated with an Omega dealer, and seems to be SWATCH certified and claims to have extensive experience in the 7750 movement (which my 1152 bears a strong relation to). He indicated that they charge the same as Omega Service center, which I thought meant back to the same $750 as before, compared with $450 starting service from Archer's and a few others. But now I look at Omega's website and they show $490 (on strap), indicating that's good for anything 1985 and newer, without any indication that Chronographs or additional complications add cost to the service. https://www.omegawatches.com/customer-service/service-prices/?no_cache=1 I've asked him if that's correct, but if so that seems like a big move, and one that's going to reduce the "competitive advantage" for the locals. Has anyone noticed a real reduction in service price, or am I reading something wrong?
Chronographs are listed as Category 3, $675 USD (on strap), $710 (on bracelet), see link on bottom of page... .
Aha, that makes more sense. On the main list they only show Chronographs 1965-1974 under the separate pricing so that threw me off.
