Saw the movie today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Early on, and this is not too spoilerish, he's getting ready to go out and dips into a multi-winder box and pulls out a JLC (one of these I believe http://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/eu/en/watches/master/master-ultra-thin-perpetual/130842J.html). The watch also gets some screen time later.

Wonder how much JLC chipped in for that bit of product placement, and even more importantly, did they supply a stunt double? (see the film, you'll understand )

Nice!! I've been a big fan of the comic book character since the '70s - looking forward to seeing the film. Showing him as a WIS just compounds the anticipation!

Great post. Caught my attention immediately. However, LeCoultre hardly seems like the type of company to pony up cash for product placement in a comic book movie. Don't get me wrong, I'm sold, but I'll have to mortgage the house...lol (I might).

When he pulled the watch box out and had the white dial 116520 Daytona I was elbowing my sister going "Dr Strange has my Daytona! Clearly a man of impeccable taste".

Great movie though I'm pretty sure JLC does have a deal with Marvel given Tony Stark also rocks a JLC, and similarly selects it from a watch box filled with other brands.

Well said...I recuse myself. This is why I am still a newbie in a quartz TAG (don't tell anyone). Ha ha. Great post. Pardon my sarcasm, I really don't even mean it. It's in our DNA in New England.

Good point, and interesting to think about.

I wonder who exactly they're talking to with that deal. The James Bond/omega relationship makes sense to me, as it's a brand/watch that a middle/upper-middle class person could conceivably fall in love with, save a bit, and ultimately buy. I guess for whatever reason I just don't see the kind of person who can afford to pick up a JLC being swayed by a comic book movie. I'd be curious to know if they see any kind of appreciable bump in sales following the movie, or if they just do it as a way to elevate brand perception.

Perhaps their targets are the parents who bring their kids to the movie.

Of course they paid for product placement. They need to do more of this! While maintaining thier cred and value proposition.

    Ouch...

Although I think the first time I ever saw a JLC was in Batman Forever - where the reverse side was a videophone with which Val Kilmer spoke with Alfred...

I'm pretty sure Christian Bale wore one as Bruce Wayne too...

JLC must get enough back to keep it going for 20 plus years..

Well, he was also driving a Lambo - so at least this is consistent.

I liked it a lot but that's just me, my sister is a trainee neurosurgeon and commented that they nailed all of the doctor / medical part especially the capturing the narcicism of surgeons (her words and she is one lol).

    Hi Guys[emoji137]

Yipeee ! I've watched Dr Strange today & I must say I really enjoyed the movie, great acting , dialogues & although there were lots of CGIs , it didnt mar the storyline. This movie must be watched in IMAX 3D to enjoy the full experience. See whether you can identify the watch but the JLC Master Ultra Thin Perpetual was given such great screen presence that anyone & everyone who watched the movie will remember the broken watch[IMG][IMG]
