After 25 years the site founded by Phil Askey and purchased by Amazon in the naughts is closing for good.

If you ever dabbled in digitial photography you knew this website. Sad to see it go considering it was still active, and the best place on the internet for Camera reviews, they really set the bar high for review sites.

I still remember pouring over this review before I purchased this camera 20 years ago.

Lots of time spent here after initially finding (and leaving, Ken Rockwell). Nikon or Canon? Then it was should I do mirrorless, and if so, which? Which Sony, should I upgrade?

Great comments too, with the occasional heated exchanges.

Sad to see this site go. It’s waned in recent years but was such a staple for the fledgling digital photography crowd back in the early going.

I remember reading about my Kodak digital back for my n80 on this site. And that was WAY back in the day

A great source of info, it'll be sad to see it close. I wonder if there's any opportunity for someone else to buy the site from Amazon, seems like it has value even if it's not profitable under current management.

Not Surprised that alot of people on this site used dpreview.com . My understanding is the staff is moving to another site to take it up, but as Amazon owns the content, I doubt it will move as well.

Looks very complementary... Perhaps the OF owners can offer to buy it 😁

Like others, I loved pouring over the reviews and comments, to closely compare any photog purchase that i made. No matter how inexpensive.

Sad to see all that content go.

Used their videos alot, which resulted in a sony a7iii and then a7rv. Their reviews surely will be missed.

Edit: Seems Amazon canceled them because of too little profit. Good news is Chris and Jordan will join PetaPixel and continue with their shows on youtube from may -23
