    Hi OF,

For sale is an extraordinarily rare and clean example Doxa 'dead-beat' seconds watch dated back to 1950s.

Watch 101 by Hodinkee: "Dead seconds indicate the second with discrete jumps between them. This is contrary to the majority of mechanical watches where the second hand moves somewhat smoothly between the seconds. While the functionality seems simple, it is complex mechanically. The second hand usually moves with each vibration of the balance wheel, which would be 5 times per second for a watch running at 18,000 vibrations per hour. The dead-seconds complication requires extra mechanics to slow that rate down to once per second for display on the dial."

Dead seconds watch was often for use by doctors, in order to accurately time a medical event or take patient's pulse more precisely, by the second. It ticks like a regular battery Quartz, but has a hidden secret in the mechanism. Indeed a 'sleeper' piece. So the second hand ticks each second away instead of floating along quietly.

Dial: 100% original, applied arrow marker
Case: Original finish, case is unpolished
    Movement: Chezard Cal 116

The watch measures 35mm excluding crown, 18mm lugs width. Recently fully serviced and overhauled
The watch is in MINT condition.

The watch is sold as is watch only, no box or papers. A used leather straps will be supplied if the buyer requires it. Priced at REDUCED 2,600 USD + shipping. Paypal or bank wire only.

    Thanks heaps

    Andre

Accidentally stumbled on this ad from one of my old watch magazines, circa 1956. Saw it the moment I flicked through the first page, pretty cool :)
