Down visiting my friend the watchmaker today, the one my kids call "my drug dealer" and to pass the time over coffee, he pulls a couple of boxes out of the lock-up for us to play in. He's done this before and I've been treated to handling pocket watches from the 1700s and tours of the insides of many old pieces awaiting restoration but today was extra special. I'm sorry I didn't have a camera along because out of the box came: from WW2, a Heuer chronograph and a Longines pilots watch...both in amazing condition an NOS Heuer Camero several NOS Tissots from the 40s or 50s, beautiful mens dress watches with the paper tags and prices still on them. a one off prototype Bulova from the 60s, still bearing its factory specifications labels several early Omega bumpers and 30mm Chronometres... all in lovely shape... a few late 40s swiss chronographs from small makers a mystery dial Longines and on and on it went...... I can't remember it all! I'm considering becoming a burgler! It makes one wonder just what is out there waiting for us to discover it and fall in love.
