Hi all! Last week I decided my Rolex phase was fun, but I'm ready to follow my compass and come home to Omega. I plan on eventually moving my Rolex Explorer, and realized I could kick in some extra cash and get TWO modern Omegas! First off, George Hsu is just an absolute pleasure to work with. He gave me a nice package deal on my two fav Omega models. I'm going into "house-buying" mode in 2015, so my budget is going to be void of watch funds. So, having variety is key! On to the watches! First, I got the Great White. I've never owned it before and really enjoy the Rolex Polar, so I gave it a whirl! And OF course, I bought one of George's minty speedy's!! It's a perfect duo (plus it's added to my Stowa Flieger). The GW is great on the SS bracelet. The Speedy is strictly a leather strap watch. (The Stowa is a three hand alternative). I'm very happy with the watches, and extremely happy with the transaction from George.
It feels great! I've been switching back and forth almost hourly, lol. I know the real conundrum will be which white GMT to sell. If I'm being responsible, it'll be the Rolex. That means it'll be the GW.
The white wave dial on the GW is one of the best kept Omega secrets out there. I think I like it more than the blue or black wave dials. PD, I think the GW and Polar are one of the rare occasions of watches being mutually exclusive. The real difference is a tilted bezel vs a plateau bezel. I can't imagine anyone owning both of these----they are so similar. I'm committed to cutting the MV of my collection (trimmed almost 10k over the last year) but even if I wasn't doing that, I'd still choose to reallocate to another watch ( which in reality is what I'm doing). I will say that the time keeping on the 3186 is freakish. It registers as +4 seconds on the time machine----but there must be other variables that go into actual time keeping. About once a week I stop it for 2-3 seconds to bring it back in sync with the atomic clock. It must be -4 seconds in another position. The real prize is finding the 3186 in an M series GMT master. Much rarer than the M series Polar's with a 3186.
I've dealt with a lot of watch dealers before....George stands out so far above anyone else, it isn't even close.
