In the past Don Draper has worn a vintage Rolex Explorer on AMC's Mad Men, but in the latest episode, we se that the Rolex has been replaced by a vintage Omega Seamaster Calendar with black crosshair dial:

Seamaster De Ville caliber 562 probably, with an outside chance of a 560. Most likely a 166.020 and a refinished dial because I don't recall black w/ white crosshairs being made for that series. Crown looks correct. Can't tell if the hands are white (they're wrong if they are) or are silver but look white due to reflection.

Dial is probably a redial. It could be real if printing is gilt, can't tell from the picture. I'm sure the hands were painted white to make them show up better on camera.

Originally, I thought the watch was a Rolex OP, but I wasn't watching in HD format.

    Take care,

Did you see this mentioned somewhere?

Seems it would be a lot easier to cater the lighting of the scene (and post production) to make the watch more visible, if that was their goal. :)

No, just a guess. It is possible that the "white" is just a reflection from the steel hands.

I wonder if this watch is one of the scarce cal. 560 models?

I've never seen a black dial for that reference. I've seen a quadrant dial twice, and I own a variant with numbers instead of markers, and of course the other handful I've seen were standard stick indices. Of course, that doesn't mean a black dial doesn't exist.

Agreed. I think it's just the set lighting hitting at the right angle (11 o'clock is lit up the same way).

There's an article on fratellowatches.com relating to this as well. I think Robert-Jan is a member here too.

If he wants a clearer shot for the article, he should use ours :)

The other interesting one, is I think Roger Stirling has been wearing an 18K JLC Memovox, but its hard to get a good picture of it, other than the two crowns.

If it's a Memovox I could confirm it by the crowns.

Annoying that they feel the need to watermark it.

It's not a watermark on the picture. AMC keeps that graphic on the TV screen for the entire show.

Yes I agree. It is quite annoying, but virtually every show has it now.

    Take care,
