Well normally we hop around in kangaroo pouches but sometimes when you're wearing a good pair of formal thongs and stubbies you don't want to get them smeared with pouch mucus and opt for some mode of motorised transport. :coffee:

Big difference though as the Base 500 do90 bezel is far more common than any of the Base 1000 bezels.. So a larger sample set to compare against.

Not to mention the way values have gone on the watches that require a Base 1000 bezel, versus the values on the watches that require a Base 500 DON. While there's been some fast appreciation on later 2998s thru early 145.022-69s, the appreciation of later 2915s / early 2998s has just gone nuts

Conversely it would be easier to throw a few reproduction Base 500 DON bezels on the market without them being picked up. US$3K still ain't bad for a few dodgy bezels if your manufacturing them, especially in emerging/developing countries. There is a large market and perhaps not everyone is as informed as those on here.

like the Australian Beach DON Bezel ,we have a few rare, but faded cars, yes. and from time to time we release a few to the rest of the world and they are astounded to find, that there is no, was never, any rust. because our climate is partly harsh, but dry. and produces rare examples of collectibles..... kind regards from summer. achim

I doubt whether the high end classic car market (I'm thinking Ferrari and rare marques) has cars that are 100% original - many will have remade wings, boot lids, wheels, engine parts, windscreen wipers, etc etc but in that game it doesn't have an effect on the value, whereas in the watch game it seems critical to have everything original, perhaps we are moving to a time when allowances can be made for unobtainable parts and it will not have an effect on the ultimate price?

Of course allowances will be made for parts that are nearly impossible to find, but rest assured watches with more original parts will continue to have more value. I, personally, am ok with a newer bezel or crown...or service hands on a vintage Speedmaster. In fact, I'd much prefer an attractive newer bezel to a roached original, but opinions differ there. We all have to wear what we like.
