Obviously it's a redial. But how bad do you think it is? Or how good it looks? Thank you for your comments. Happy New Year to all of you!

So you mean this redial should belong to the "worst redials" forum...

Probably not. You have to realize you're asking a bunch of collectors who are hypercritical. This forum would be considered a group of purists. Even if perfectly copied, a refinished dial is still a redial.

Well, there's a worst redial thread. But as of yet there's no Worst Redials Forum. There are probably enough redials asked about to merit its own forum, but most of the posters of redials are noobs and inheritors of uncle watches that don't know it is a redial. So they're unlikely to post their inquiries in a redial forum.

I understand the critics. Just hope that they don't say I should be ashamed to wear it...

I meant "thread", not "forum". Sorry.

I think most would agree if it makes you happy to wear it - then wear it and enjoy! Anyway, those Cosmics came with some pretty interesting dial versions... why not add a few more :)

I wouldn't. If you like it, wear it.

No need to apologize. Last day of work for me this year, it is slow, and your post got me imagining a redial forum and all the weirdness it would entail! :D

Don't sweat it. If you like it, wear it.

Well, let me show you the original dial...
If I were a collector, probably I would keep it that way. But it looked so bad to wear...

    Z o'clock?!?!?!
Oh my GAWD - we have the answer to the question that's been vexing watch forums for years! THE SEAMASTER COSMIC WITH THIS PARTICULAR DIAL IS THE WATCH TO WEAR FOR THE ZOMBIE APOLCALYPSE!!!!

We can finally put that to bed with a definitive response!

By the way, this original cosmic dial (the one to wear for the zombie apocalypse...) has what you call "patina", or is it just a poor condition dial? And even if the dial and movement was in good shape, would you consider this watch as collectible? This Cosmic has the 613 movement. Thanks.

Cosmics, regardless of condition, aren't very sought after. While you can collect anything, that doesn't mean it has value. The rarer and more sought after the watch, the more damage is acceptable to it. On a 50's Submariner or Fifty Fathoms, that type of dial condition is patina. On a late 60's or early 70's Cosmic, it's damage.
