I will fess up that I haven't read the thread on high end watch definitions because that holds zero interest... That being said, your proposition sounds like crazy talk to me!

Is this a high end car?

One of the most prestigious of marques, the 1977 Porsche 924 in stunning (mostly) Guards Red, powered by a formidable 95hp (at one point), 4 cylinder Volkswagen van engine, coupled to an eager 3-speed automatic box from Audi, it may be slightly polished in parts but between its pop up headlights, giant glass hatchback, diving board bumpers and candybar tail lights its about as modern and contemporary as any vehicle in 2015.

    Viva la Porsche!

Tell me something afinewatch - what exactly are you looking to accomplish? It seems to me since we didn't agree with you that you have a new mission to instigate.

Somethings withstand the test of time, others don't...some get better with time, some get forgotten and left behind.

I understand your need to find a "one rule that fits all". I understand the intrinsic need to want things to be black or white; But, the sooner you understand that things just can't always be categorized and placed in a single box, and that gray is something more than an erotic novel's protagonist, the sooner you'll be at peace with your taste in watches and just enjoy them regardless of what others think.

You made some comments about people that follow (us) versus those that don't (you)...Noble talk, but you seem to need some kind of validation that doesn't quite fit with the single minded independent maverick image you want to project.

Is this a high end watch? It's no longer in pristine condition:

I personally wouldn't classify this or the Rolex at the start of this thread as high end at any time.

Exactly, it's a trick question....Rolex and Omega are mid-tier brands...

Also add a double like button. Won't use it on this thread, but with the recent watch purchasing going on here, it is needed.

Your other post about high end watches was a genuine question that elicited a few different responses, I think you're now taking the mick.
Do you really need to try to cause trouble because not everyone agreed with you last time?
Stick to what you do best, posting on the sales forum.

I must say I am amazed by the amount of sarcasm and outright vitriol from this forum.
I posted a legitimate question to people who I thought were gentlemen.
I will not address some of the replies because they belong in the gutter.
For those who are truly watch aficionados, the watch I posted a picture of is a very rare 18K white gold Rolex Datejust from 1970s. Most of you will never have a chance to hold one in your hands not to mention owning one. I really do not care anymore about your answers to the question I posed.
You seem to be looking for something between the lines instead of just reading what is posted and either answering or not.
I have made a mistake thinking I was among fellow watch lovers. Most of you are rude "know it alls"
    I cannot stand snobs.
