the movement seems to have had a hard life - so many different colors on the plate!?
    And rust on the case...
do you really consider to buy this?

The movement looks unmolested, the screws aren`t chewed etc. and the edges on the cases are reasonably sharp..... I`ll bet it looks rude because its sat...... for like sixty years.

I`d bet a really good cleaning & service from a respectful technician will result in a really beautiful watch.

I have one that looks identical to this in the shop right now (although I have not opened the case yet). It's a very nice watch.

    Cheers, Al

The case of ref 2391 is very different, so I doubt that it is the right reference.
There are two watches with the same case design and a 30T2SC in AJTT, p. 139. They are referred to as CK2242. Different dial and hands, but we know that they were very variable for the same reference in those years. I tend to thinks that DG GW's watch is a CK 2242 with nice pontife hands a an interesting roman numeral dial.
30T2SC was created in 1940 and ref CK 2242 launched in 1941 according to AJTT, so we have a hint of its age.

I must respectfully disagree - there is no cleaning method to remove this severe tarnish from the plates - the only way to make it look better would be re-plating - but then you will not have a collectible any more...
the rust scars must me laser welded to be removed - does this sound reasonable for a watch of this price range?
    just my 2 cents

Agreed! I say cleaning as in getting the dirt out of the pivots and perhaps a bit off the face. Those plates are that colour from age and are best left alone.

in the right hands , oooo steel wool will do zero damage and return the plates to near new in appearance.

Sorry, but using any abrasive is very likely to remove the plating that is on the movement plates, so not something I would recommend.
