I just saw the documentary movie "Last man on the moon" at Netflix and I am wondering, which further films are available about the moon landing and the Apollo missions.

Especially I am searching documentaries with a lot of facts and information and cinema movies only, if they are close to detail and not fiction based. That is what I liked when seeing "Last man on the moon" because Eugene Cernan himself is talking in that movie about the life as an astronaut and the story is based on his book.

If possible name of the documentary movie with link where to find it (e.g. Netflix, Amazone Prime, link to youtube or whatever).

    Thx for your help

There's no fiction in 'For All Mankind'. Not sure where it's available from but it contains only NASA footage and astronauts voices.

This is the equivalent of the Gene Cernan thing, on Neil Armstrong. It's EXCELLENT imo.

I was born in 1982, and therefore obviously have no memories of any moon landings. I feel like my generation has been jipped and really wonder why we haven't been back.

It's been a long time since I watched it, but I recall that "In the Shadow of the Moon" was very good. The IMDb page for the documentary (link below) also has some other suggestions that might be worthwhile in the "More Like This" section.

I find many space/moon films lack atmosphere.

I watched “The Apollo Experience: Apollo 17” last night on Amazon Prime (the wife is out of town). Lots of great footage from the lunar surface. But now I know I have a problem, because I found myself just as interested in trying to look at the (now vintage) watches that everyone was wearing in mission control!

Not a film or documentary, but I just finished Al Worden's book Falling to Earth. Worden was the Command Module Pilot on Apollo 15 and he gives lots of information on the entire Apollo Program. If anyone is interested in this book, send me a PM with your address and I'll send it out. On me

The 1968 space sci-fi film Barbarella has MATMOSphere.
    Sorry, couldn't help myself. :whipped:

Thanks to ΩF, I learned about that documentary "The Last Man on the Moon" and watched it directly on Netflix yesterday. Very well done doc, thanks for sharing. Gene Cernan reminded me about Jim Ragan that I've been lucky to meet a couple of times - also one of those guys who can't just unwind and enjoy his retirement / family / relatives... :)

Binge-watched the ‘Chasing the Moon’ series over the weekend - highly recommended. Some great footage with commentary by Buzz, Michael Collins, Khrushchev‘s son, etc.
