I don't want to take the dial off of this one and was wondering if the 18k constellation with the deluxe dial always had a solid 18k dial.
    Many thanks.

    I believe that is true.
But I'm sure some if the experts will correct me if I'm wrong.

The Omega Vintage Database entry for the standard steel Ref. 2852 identifies the dial as follows:

    http://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-watches-database?ref=14966

So all pie-pan dials are considered "De Luxe", but all are not solid gold, like the above example. However, the ones with the mirrored minutes track like that one are all supposed to be solid gold. Unless they have been tampered with to simulate the solid gold version.

    Clear as mud, right?

I guess the distinction is between a Deluxe dial and a Constellation Deluxe. Constellation Deluxes will always have an 18k dial as your 2853 example has, whereas, as Gator mentioned, Deluxe dials come in all different configurations but usually, although not always, have gold dial furniture.

    The mud is getting thicker!

    Cheers
