I just got hold of this beauty, a cal 320 with 2475 printed inside the back cover. I was not fully aware of this movement, and judging by the serial number I date it to approx. 1944. What surprises me is that it has an Incabloc. Must be among the first ones, yes? Well my question though is about the crown as this one has no logo. Is this fit during service or could it be the good old one from the beginning?
Waterproof crowns are changed in service to keep the watch waterproof. This model is NOT waterproof and there was no need to change. That one can be original, maybe not (a broken stem or something happened) Early crowns did not have logo on them
I have never seen one without the logo on a watch with Incabloc before, so my impression is that from around 1945 they would fit them all around...
It's the same problem we have with watch crystals. Just because it has the Omega symbol on it, does not mean that it is the original crown or crystal. These things get changed regularly in service, as Hoi and others have pointed out. So there is no absolute way of establishing the hinge points for style introductions and changes on these items, other than catalogue illustrations and advertisements of the period, which may or may not be accurate and detailed enough to guide the student.
Maybe because you don't see enough Ref 2254, 9.8 mil with incabloc no logo on crown Ref 2400 Suveran with incabloc, no logo on crown 28.10 bumper serial 10 mil with incabloc , no logo on crown
I am flabbergasted! Perhaps you can enlighten us; When did Omega start placing logos on all their watches?
I would say sometime between 1947 to 1950. The earliest watch that I have and believe all original with logo on crown has serial number 11,7 mil. Note: All the legendary 30T2Rg and SC don't have logo on their crowns.
My Omega Chronometre, Ref. 2517 cal. 352, from 1950 has serial number 11.5M and came with logo on crown. I believe that the Ref. 2500 Centenary has a logo on the crown as well. Most have movement serial numbers in the 10 to 11 million range. http://forums.watchuseek.com/f20/om...ronometer-306325-post2256397.html#post2256397 Can any of the few Centenary owners in the audience check in please? gatorcpa
