Hi All A month or so ago I bought a Tissot Seastar Visodate (1969) from a well known auction site. I bought it just as a daily beater/work wear. I have know idea of the service history but it does seem to run ok and wind smoothly but is running around about -30s/d consistently. While I appreciate it would probably need a service is it possible to carry out a DIY regulation and how would I go about it? While I have no form of timing machine in any way I' m an electronics engineer by trade and have lots of precision tools that should allow me to do it if possible. Looking at the movement it seems this is adjusted via a small screw rather than a lever. Any comments for or against would be appreciated. Thanks
You can say eBay here. Look: eBay eBay eBay eBay eBay eBay eBay eBay eBay eBay eBay eBay eBay eBay eBay!!!! ….and the site is still here! That's the first sentence in the process leading to a screwed up watch. It's akin to Billy Joe Bob saying he can fix your DP930 because he has a good set of tools in his backyard garage.
I've done it only when the case is easy to open, the regulator is simple and the only tool needed is a toothpick. Anything that requires more sophisticated tools than that goes to the watchmaker. gatorcpa
I'm about the same. Although I will mess with a swan neck regulator also. Good excuse to buy a jewelers screwdriver set. You will probably also need a wearable loupe Kinda fun actually.
Well what was -30s/d now seems to be about -20s/d. More turns required I think, here's hoping I don't prove Dennis correct
