I have seen these lately for around 3k on the grey market in as new condition..... Seems like A LOT OF WATCH for the money and I am fighting the urge to jump in. Am I missing something?
I love mine, and have no idea why a $6K watch would sell for so little, when it really feels like a watch that would command a bit higher price than great market. It keeps great time (+2 sec/day), is solidly built, and looks great. Yes, it is a lot of watch for the money. I bought mine in May 2015 so the warranty is up in 3-4 days, but during the 4-yr warranty I've never had an issue. But, this model came out 5 years ago and maybe people think it's a little long in the tooth and soon to be replaced by a newer model. If demand is down then the grey market price must go down. However, 2 years ago the price was down to $3800 on the grey market, and as far as I know the price hasn't really budged in the past 2 years.
I called my local OB to see if I could come by and try one on. They had one, but the sales girl said her omega website also said it was discontinued.
I have been informed by the manager at the local OB that the new version will be announced shortly, it will feature that same style of dial that we saw on the latest three hand diver from last year.
Right; thanks. I imagine that will mean a glass back, too; I'd better look into getting the current model soon-ish.
The glass back would be a great upgrade, seeing the actual mechanism is a must, I always love skeleton watches (the great ones) the way the whole thing works is incredible! it always amazed me since I can ever remember.
