    I know and appreciate that many love display backs. Fortunate to own two pieces with a view on the works but to be honest it really wouldn't bother me if they were there or not. Probably the only time I view the engine is whilst case cleaning.
    Anyone else share my views ?
    Ok! it looks nice but it looks even better from the front ;)

    It's like owning a $200,000 mid engine exotic car. They always have there power plant on display. Why not do the same for your time piece.

    Display backs usually make a watch a hair thicker, which is counterproductive in the ultra-thin game.

    Depends on the movement. I've had a couple of custom backs made so that I can gaze at particularly nice movements, such as this one...

    I love clear display back. I don't mind it add 2-3 mm, I just never bored to see the watch mechanism working. Even for the relative minimal decorative movement (and not battery operated of course....).
    I guess my kindergarten awe experience at gawking those big machines (cars, tractors, trains etc) never left me entirely.

    I love display backs - if only to see the rotor spin and parts move. Simple pleasures!

    Always wished I could get a displayback for my Cal 320 OT2872, that movement in a gold watch is beautiful

    I recently had a meal with a friend who was wearing a FP Journe Chronometer Souverain. The display back was killer!

    Looking at a watches movement is like looking over the hood in a C7 or a Ferrari from the drivers seat, akin to looking at a beautiful woman too.

    Sadly I didn't think to take one :(

    We had an interesting lunch though, he brought his FP Journe, the slightly older version of the JLC Master Calendar (too big and too thick for me), and his new 'Hulk' Sub (bit too thick for me too). I was surprised by how the colors of the Hulk change. I had seen it on a colleague's wrist last year and deemed it too green, but it looked far less green (perhaps due to the lighting). Nevertheless, still a bit thick on my skinny wrist.

    I love em because I'm a tinker at heart and you get to view the inner workings of a precision instrument!

    what about display fronts? Lol

    Obi - wan you are directly responsible for revving up my casual interest in the 9P and now I'm going to get taken broke with this new Altiplano.

    thanks ::censored::

    :)

    Ladies and gentlemen, I present you with the prettiest mechanical watch movement(s) ever made. If it had PP or AP on the dial, she'd be starting @ six figures with a waiting list.
