If you do that your a low down ratty little bastard!

You're. 馃檮

And yeah whatever, I'm not the one on the floor, or with a bottle across my face.

Too many years of dealing with drunk aggressive arseholes whilst working behind bars, to be bothered about how someone gets put down, just that it's done quickly so the police can cart them away. 馃槈

You probably have.

The difference being that you were drinking in them, not working in them I'd imagine.

And that you seem to think there's some sort of honour in fighting.

There really isn't. 馃

Wipe away all the bullshit and it's about putting the other person down before you, and you not getting hurt.

It's amazing how quickly a bloke will stop trying to smack you in the face when he's rolling on the floor holding his crotch.

And I have zero problem with that. 馃憤

Does that make me a "low down ratty bastard"?

In your eyes maybe. 馃槈

But I've had a knife in the side, and a champagne bottle across the face - and if punching either of those arseholes in the balls before they got theirs in would have stopped the pain and surgery, I'd have done just that. ::facepalm1::

Adding a few emojis in their to indicate this is all said with a wry smile. 馃榿

Upon reflection, I think the best course of action is to make the watch seller eat all of his stock... then at least someone benefits from those heavily polished cases and rounded lugs 馃槈

I see the added trouble here that this was supposed to be a thoughtful gift. If your wife is anything like mine, she probably already feels bad about it not being what she thought she was getting/what you wanted.

As I moved into vintage and more expensive Omegas I thinned out the junk I had before. The prize of my small collection is still a beautiful rose gold Sturhling that my wife bought me. Not because it is the nicest piece, most comfortable, readable, expensive or attractive - but because it was from her.

I say talk him down on the 321 and have a piece your wife bought (albeit with a little guidance). From the sounds of it he will discount it - maybe show some recently sold eBay listings. Once it is all done - forget about the price paid and just love the heck out of it (and your kind wife for thinking of you).

This is exactly what I'm thinking at this point. At least then I'd have a Seamaster that wouldn't stress me out to wear every day!

The plot thickens. He is selling the Seamaster 321 Chrono that I'm looking at on eBay...FOR $6600. I have checked every speck on the dial and it's the same watch. Unreal.

Does he know that you are interested in the Seamaster? If so, my guess is that he's trying to scare you away by listing it at a multitude of it's true value.

What a F馃がKing Dickhead! 馃槨

Finally some sense! the man can charge 拢100,000 for a casio if he wants your wife bought it and presumably never asked he was not necessarily misrepresenting unless he specifically told her "THIS IS NOT A REDIAL"

its IS down to his own proffeshional and moral code of conduct to choose whether or not he will accept returns as the buyer DID see and inspect the item in person physically prior to purchase..

There was significant misrepresentation during the sale..."This watch is easily worth twice this amount and I will appraise it as such"; "This is a really rare watch"; "This watch is in phenomenal condition for how old it is."

For the record, I actually really like this watch. Just not to the extent that I'd like to pay an extra $1000 for it.

This guy sounds like a real piece of work if those were his words. I wouldn't trust a word that comes out his mouth regarding the authenticity/functionality of any of his watches. I guess if you decide to take the risk and trade up, be sure to get it checked by a trusted watchmaker to make sure there aren't any surprises lurking under the hood.

I'm tempted to have him appraise it (apparently he's certified) just to have it in writing that he's out of his mind. Really, if I can get the Seamaster or something equivalent, there's not much risk that I'll be in worse shape than I am now.

@dougiedude - That auction was actually posted before I had even looked at the Seamaster. He's just trying to make a few extra thousand by selling it on ebay to another unsuspecting buyer. I suppose if you have no integrity, why not post it on ebay with a $5K premium?

Name and shame here?

OP should first inform the dealer that his deceitful practices will be publicly exposed on collectors forums and social networks if he doesn't give a refund.

Send him the link to the Hodinkee article which says a redialed watch is worth considerably less. The result is that he had to disclose explicitly the dial had been redone.
