First off, hello to the forums! First time poster....

I am trying to find a bezel for my vintage omega (Geneve, 166.0168) and apparently, it's a discontinued item and Otto Frei can't supply them. I've tried searching the web and can't find a replacement part anywhere.

Would my best bet be to find a donor case for the bezel or is it possible to make a bezel from another model fit?

    Thanks in advance!

hm, Im' not sure you're giving the right ref. The 166.0168 is a one piece case isn't it?

It's not. Most variations of the Geneve were one piece cases but this particular ref does have a separate bezel.

This is a watch that my father gave me that he purchased new in the 70s and I'd really like to restore it to its former glory and the bezel is proving to be impossible to find.

It will be tough to find one. You don't specify what the case material is, but I can tell you that the bezel number for the stainless model is 082ST1660168. It is discontinued, but the part number might help in your search.

There are places that can make custom bezels, but that won't be cheap. Your best bet is likely to find a donor watch - one that has moisture damage to the movement for example and is going cheap, but the case might be good still.

    Good luck!

    Cheers, Al

Got it. Thank you for the part number. That should be helpful.

I guess the next question is, does anyone here have a donor for sale?

    Forgot that bit! St. Steel...

Other issues with this watch, someone swapped the band for an ill fitting expansion bracelet and the crown will pull completely out in certain positions (is there a guide to the 1012? Need to figure out if its a loose spring or something I can fix).

    Photos attached.

Best option is to buy a 166.0168 with a 1030 mvt and take what you need.

Finding the right watch at a decent price isn't as easy as I thought it would be. I can't really find much for under $200 and seeing as to how I only need the bezel, it feels like it's a bit much to pay.

I'm still searching, almost frantically at this point. I'm getting married in a few months and I really want to have my dad's watch on my wrist that day. I'm feeling like this may not be a possibility :-/

If you look at other seller's objects you will see there is one for 60 euro. You can take the bezel for your watch not the whole case.
