    $300 for a watch roll...are you nuts?

I never was a fan of the watch roll...I have several, but never really used them that much. They just didn't offer much protection, and are a bit awkward to travel with. Then I found this:
    http://www.discommon.com/goods/the-watch-roll-heather-grey

Wow...this isn't your Grandpa's watch roll. Hand crafted and it shows...worth every bit of $300 and more. Its hard to explain without holding it in your hand, but the design is perfect. It doesn't "roll", but rather folds at the stitches between each pocket which safely holds your watch. They use a very thin, yet strong as steel barrier between each watch to protect your precious cargo. This is really the best travel case I have ever owned. It feels like a million bucks and looks great too. If you are in the market for a travel case, take a look at this...and don't be put off by the price. It really is worth the extra cost compared to a regular watch roll...well actually there is no comparison because this is in a league of its own.

Anyone with experience on the Hodkinees two watch leather pouches? They never have any in stock and it costs a pretty penny for just two.

However, it looks decent for travel. Curious if anyone has found another company offering a similar product.

I have a very similar if not the same made by Bulang & Sons. It's excellent too as it's very small

I like watch rolls, but the challenge I've faced with them is that certain watches are hard to lay flat, such as those on a deployant or a Royal Oak. For those I use a Oakley watch vault.

Thing is, I still like the feel and texture of leather. I'm wondering - has anyone tried single watch pouches styled like this?

@CajunTiger dibs on that 2447. Fantastic set of watches my friend.

I was considering the discommon roll but was put off by the price, glad to know why it's worth it.

I've had a lizard skin hard case version of that for years. It's great. Got it from Panatime.

I have one, too. It's the only roll I've ever been tempted to buy, and if there's a better roll out there, I'd be surprised. Here's a couple of shots:

I also ordered their watch wallet, but it hasn't come in yet. I'll post photos when it arrives.

Thanks to Greg for sharing my article above.

I can attest to the quality of both the roll and the wallet from Discommon. Neil and Jeremy, the two main guys behind the company, are freaks about combining smart and intentional design, backed by quality craftsmanship. Their products are generally pretty pricey (which they'll be the first to admit), but you're truly getting something designed by passionate guys looking to make the best products they can.

well the saying "you get what you pay for" truly applies with Discommon products...the quality and thought process into their products are both outstanding.

This was meant as tongue in cheek ;)

By far the best watch roll on the market and well worth the money.

I bought two watch rolls from timeismoney who is a member here. I can not recommended them highly enough. The craftsmanship and feel of the leather has to be experienced in real life to be really appreciated. I suppose individual preference applies to watch rolls as well as watches :)

I have a couple of the all leather watch rolls (not from timeismoney) and while the leather feels really nice and very supple, I don't feel that it provides the protection necessary from impact incase of an accidental drop. I do feel that the leather rolls are very good protection from scratches and dust. I agree that we all have individual taste and needs in watch rolls and watches, but since I travel a great deal I need the added piece of mind that the Discommon watch roll provides.

Yeah, everything related to horology is pretty much sold out.

BUT, i bet if everyone joins the newsletter and expresses interest on the watch rolls under "what should we attack first" then we can probably expect these beauties sooner rather than later. Link below.
