Got a mint condition 3559 Schumacher Legend from Crown & Caliber yesterday. Supposedly had a full service and everything. Got it out of the box, and it was working fine. A few hours later, the chrono second hand resets to 11 instead of 12 oclock. There are articles online about the caliber 33xx movements presenting chrono issues, but this watch was manufactured in 2006, so it should have been resolved by then... Debating on sending it back to Crown and Caliber for servicing or using my watchmaker in NYC (JWATCH).
Updates to these movements were still being made as late as 2008, but the last update related to the chronograph function was in 2003. Although it's possible this is related to the design of the hammer operating lever, it could be as simple as the hand being loose on the post...in that case it would be a simple fix. However if the watch was new in 2006 and hasn't been serviced, it needs to be serviced anyway. Just make sure whoever you use is familiar with these, and has access to the upgraded parts if needed. Cheers, Al
