So, after a long day of travelling across the Atlantic, i finally reached my apartment. Tired, i stumbled through the door with my bags and as I went through, *bang*, I hit my watch non the door handle . Inspecting the damage, there's a small but noticeable dink on the bottom edge of the case - you can actually see where the meta has been dented in, right on the edge! Gutted! I'll try and post a pic later but can t be rectified through normal polishing etc or am I stuck with it? I've picked up other little scratches on the braclet etc, but so far the case has remained unmarked so it's hurting a bit!
Even without pictures I'm fairly sure it can be laser welded, that is if you can find someone who does it.
There are a few places who can push the metal back into place, but it won't be cheap and there will never quite be the same crisp facet.
I can give you one very valid piece of advice without seeing it: As soon as you have the ding fixed you'll make another one.
This. You've left your mark on it, now it is your personal watch, like no other. And even more special than it was before!
Agree with this. I have several on my PO, cost to fix it is probably not worth it. Price for a new case would be way to go if you want perfection but you would lose the serial number.
The sting lessens each day, and before you know it, you'll be amazed that you were considering doing something drastic to try and rectify it.
Thanks guys. Sage advice. It's quite a small dent really, just damned annoying that it's on the edge of the case, something not easily rectified/replaced. It's my daily wearer and plan on keeping it so it's bound to pick up a fair bit of 'patina' along the way. the first cut is the deepest and all that!
I have a mark on the lug of my speedy triple date I still remember where and when it happened. That's how I know it's mine.
It's actually a small ding. A dink is an acronym for Double Income No Kids, or Aussie slang for doubling up on a push bike etc. etc. As a new owner, you must learn the correct technical terms. Is it on a deployment clasp?
I'm from Yorkshire, we have some odd turns of phrase. Dink seemed right to me! I'm aware of the common mistake of deployment for deployant though!
