Difference between SMP 300 rubber tang and deployant straps

So I've been looking at both tang and deployant straps for my new to me SMP 300, black straps.

The deployant strap appears to have more pronounced/bold "rails" on the strap in photos when compared to the tang strap. Can anyone confirm this for me?

I'm aware that lighting plays a role here, but I've been looking at photos and videos for days now and this seems to hold true every time.

I've owned both versions, although not at the same time. I never noted any difference and I don't know why Omega would make them differently with regard to that aspect.

Is this just a curiosity thing or do you have a preference for one or other (if there is any difference)?

And welcome to OF!

I wonder the same thing, but every time I compare the straps albeit online they seemingly have a slightly different appearance.

These both look different to me lol, one strap appears to have bolder "rails" ..really hoping someone who has both present day chimes in!

I own a green rubber strap/deployant for an SMP, and a blue rubber strap / Tang buckle for an SMP. There does not seem to be a difference in the boldness of the stripes or rails.

My take is this: If there really is a difference, it probably isn't dependent upon whether or not it's a normal strap or a deployant strap, but upon manufacturing batch or manufacturer of the strap itself.

BUT, pictures and video can easily make things look different. The surfaces in question may not maintain definition when photographed, and I think it's just as likely that there is no difference other than the one created by the camera.

That's a pretty solid reply. I was also thinking that the year the strap was produced might play a role in some tweaks to it.

It dawned on me that I was comparing the 2018 SMP rubber strap to 2023+ models, might be something to that.

Could be. Both are pretty recent, I purchased the blue strap earlier this year and I think that the green one is probably from 2024.

Could be wear as well, the top of the stripes is a bit more lustrous than the rest of the strap and that can help give it a bit more definition? Maybe if you've seen some that this isn't the case, it can look more shallow? I'm honestly not sure.

Here's a great side by side example of what I'm talking about:

Where were those purchased? Is it possible one of them is fake? Fake Omega straps are plentiful on eBay, Etsy, and other platforms.

Also, if they are both legit, it wouldn't surprise me that there could be a slight variance as obviously different molds are used as a result of the clasp/holes difference.

This could very well be the case, I'm not sure of the origins, just a side by side photo I found while cruising google.

The picture of that black strap looks like it has some resolution issues, as the raised areas almost look like they are recessed and the image isn't particularly clear. Those stripes have some texture which can make them either matte or reflective and I think that can often interfere with how they photograph.
