    Hi,

Is there any difference between the 14393 and 14381?

I guess both would have the decagonal crown. Is the cog wheel type as found on Seamasters of the early 60s possible as well or only added during a service later?

    Thanks
    Roger

One with calendar, the other one without.
Both types of crown are seen as original. The cog wheel/scallop type is a bit easier to use though.

While I'm not 100% certain about this, the scalloped crown seems to be a bit slimmer in the shape than the one on other Omega references. Or am I just imagining things? Since they are out of production anyway, I guess we can't dig up parts numbers...

I believe that the scalloped only appeared on US Constellations, too. One thing I AM certain about, however, is that it is a huge improvement on the decagonal one, in regards to functionality!

Not just US Connies. It's on the UK equivalence of the 14393 here:

Also on the C-case in Germany:

Thank you both! I completely forgot to look at the date window. In that case, I have a crosshair 14381. I am glad to hear that the crown could be the original one that it was sold with.

I have a 14393 and am wearing today. I posted this in the WRUW thread this morning. The crown is quite slim. 14393_022417 5527.jpg

ahsposo, I think it is a 7912 bracelet usually associated with Speedmasters.

    Tamura, yes :)

Have anyone an example of a non-US delivered Constellation with one of these crowns? Either original documents or extract? In the time where I have been aware of the two variants, I have only seen US examples of the scalloped crown, and have noticed that they are more common on american offered vintage specimen, while they are pretty rare in the EU. My own 14381 is an US delivered watch originally.

    Never seen that combination before!

Do they have the same case? Are their cases interchangeable?

They do - and they might be. The cases are identical in theory, but there were different case manufacturers with tiny differences between them and sometimes there’s even variation among the products of a single manufacturer, meaning that some case backs don’t fit on some cases.

This can’t really be determined from the outside - you’ll have to try.

However, all 14393 and 14381 dial/movements fit into all cases.
