Saw Ferrari yesterday, a nice way to spend a lunchtime in the AC. The UG compax was the highlight of the timepieces, and seeing the Ferrari in yellow made me rethink whether I liked the colour or not (decided I preferred it to the red). An interesting period drama with good suits, sunglasses, and rolling countryside. And what a crazy spectacle the Mille Miglia must have been!

I also saw Priscilla the other day - apparently Ferrari’s budget was $118 million +, as opposed to Priscilla’s $20 million. I guess there was more action in Ferrari but that is a large difference, and after seeing only half a dozen punters in the cinema I’m not sure the Ferrari film can make that money back…

Wondering what triggered the movie as Ferrari was founded in 1939, building road cars since 1947 (75 years in 2022).
While 2023 saw "75 years Lamborgini Tractors", " 60 years Lamborghini " and the 30th commemorative date since Ferruccio's passing away (February 1993) we should get a movie about that other Italian from Bologna 👍
Anyway, this year 2024 will see " 50 years Countach " (1971 prototype 1974 road car production) but 1974 was also the year when Ferruccio Lamborghini had to sell 49% of his shares in the company...

The Ferrari movie has been a pet project of Michael Mann for 20 years or so, I remember a friend (he’s a huge MM fan) telling me about it in the 2000s.

The Lamborghini film came out two years ago.

Well we all know what Frank Sinatra said about Ferrari versus Lamborghini...
Meanwhile, let me recommend a good read:

So which wrist watches were the Ferrari engineers wearing ?
Omega Speedmaster sports car racing heritage
These 1968 photos show legendary Lamborghini test driver Bob Wallace (1938-2013) wearing an Omega Speedmaster chronograph on flat link bracelet testing a newly produced V12 engined P400 Miura. The New Zealand engineer worked 12 years for the Lamborghini factory.
OMEGA’s famous 1957 Speedmaster "space watch" also has a motor racing heritage, still celebrated with the Speedmaster Racing chronograph!
Yep, it's not always "spaceflight" on MoonwatchUniverse...
There're also photos of Rolex being worn at both factories 😗

A buddy of mine saw the movie.

He said it was a chick flick disguised as car flick.

That gift sucks.

But we have one of those at home. (Miele sans Ferrari). Excellent product.

The Luce is not for the Western market. Otherwise they would have done a 2 seater and dropped another 500lbs.

It’s a solid play for the Asian market.

I personally am a fan of the interior, though.
Someone mentioned the interior would have looked even better in something like a Lancia Delta Integrale or Stratos re-edition, something like a vintage inspired rally car and I really feel that, it even gives me some Alfa Romeo GTV 6 vibes, they did a great job with that. Exterior wise I think it was a poison chalice from the outset, the constraints of a high riding position due to the battery and size needed to make it work made it nearly impossible to look good.

You nailed it with the "vintage inspired" as that is exactly what it reminded me of.
A new age digital version of those old boxy gauge clusters with analogue dials.
I thought it was cool. Most of the internet did not lol.

Harry talks about the increase in Ferrari sales in Europe pushing them into a place where they need to consider emmissions, woth a viewing.

I also think it looks better with the visible rear hoop rather than all black above the belt line.

This luce business is just as funny as when porsche introduced the turbo, the water cooled engine, the transaxle or the four wheel drive. The experts and marketing nuvolaris got really annoyed.

Something similar happens in horology.

Has anyone been playing wth the configurator?

Body colour hoop, silver wheels, clear glass.

Likely to be very spec sensitive.
