Did this Enicar Sherpa Divette go cheap??

I’m literally just starting to dip my toes in the knowledge pool for vintage Enicars, particularly Sherpa divers.

Now I know this example is the Divette which is smaller than the Dive, the indices have some aging and the inner bezel has deteriorated significantly. However, the case seems reasonable, it has the original crowns, the dial is fairly attractive and everything seems to check out.

Is $850 market for these in this condition? I was thinking more like $1200+

I am in no way an expert on Enicar, but in general I would say, that it is almost impossible to value a specimen in this condition, as it is neither interesting for collectors, nor estheticly pleasing to wear. So what you end up with is not more than the sum of its parts and hardly comparable to good examples. The discount / price is very much depending on the given buyer at that moment.

It is a 1100+ watch once you have factored in the service and a nice strap... But it is the medium size, while dials are less "hot", inner bezel is shot, case is worn. It not a good deal at this price level IMHO.

Cheap. But anything under 40 mm is not very desirable for collectors; unless it is a non Sherpa. Enicar is very underrated. Just picking up now. My guess with 2 crown big size within 6 months : plus 30%.

Personally, I'm not surprised it went for that price, and I'm not sorry I missed it. The extremely poor condition of the inner rotating bezel and the missing lume held it back. I also feel that the silver dial variants aren't quite as desirable as the black ones for some reason.

I wonder... I would not be surprised if the top end of the market (perfect cosmetics, well known refs) continue to climb with the inflation and the rest get corrected.

Some priorities will be reshuffled; accumulating sorry-looking and costly watches while food, gas, housing get costlier by the minute is not a top priority IMHO.

Maybe it’s horses for courses but while I prefer watches in great condition I quite like patina if it’s attractive and I feel this watch while no show stopper, would be nicer in person that in the pictures.

It didn’t draw me in enough to buy it but compared to other 36mm sports watches I thought the price seemed very reasonable.
