Hi guys, just purchased a lonely 166.024-67 thanks to jaegodylan (recommended seller).
I was wondering if there were other options to the 1039 bracelet, keeping in mind
I'd like to keep it more original to the time than the currently and later 1171/1 bracelet with 633 end links.

Thanks for the help
Yoni

I may be wrong but I'm fairly sure the 1171 was only introduced in '71 (no idea if that's where the 71 at the end of the reference comes from) so it would have been 1039 prior to that.

Yes it would be a 1039/516 baracelet you need to keep it period correct, earlier ones came with 1506/16 (I think until 1965 if remember correctly).

And, all of those costing as much as a used car (though not necessarily a good used car), we use Uncle Seiko or Forstner copies, or like I do, the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Speedmaster's bracelet, which happens to fit a modern Seamaster 300 replacement case. Not sure how well it fits an original.

The Uncle Seiko bracelet can use an Omega clasp cover. The Forstner needs the entire clasp (I took one from an 1171).

Thanks for the help. Only bracelets, they didn't come on Omega leather straps?

If they were supplied on anything else than bracelets, it would have been a waterproof type of strap, ie a Tropic or similar, not a leather strap.

According to a file from omegasemaster300 (image attached) some were delivered to COMEX with a corfam strap in black.

BTW, The Forstner flatlink can also be made to work with just a clasp cover. I have one that fitst perfectly butI didnt have the rest of the clasp, just that part in my box of random things and it works perfectly. I just have to figure out which clasp it originally went to. And yes, that bracelet looks really good on it.

Might have, if the customer wanted it that way, but considering it's a dive watch, a strap wouldn't have helped.

One French catalog showed the watch on a Tropic rubber strap. I've also had mine on an Omega-branded rubber "ladder" strap like the ISOFrane.

It's 20mm
That's not the only dimension to care about. The distance from the lug hole to the case is also important, as those straps are designed to fit tightly to the case.

However, there is a small chance that the strap intended for the older 42mm Planet Ocean might work. Perhaps someone with both watches and that same strap can give it a try.

Did Omega make rubber straps?

Like with many other parts, Omega themselves didn't make straps nor bracelets, it was other companies producing Omega-branded items for them. I have a 1930s GF bracelet with an Omega clasp, so it is an oooooold practice.

Sounds interesting, can you share some picture of the GF bracelet? 😀
