Did Speedmaster 145.012 have different hand styles or has Omega changed the style of service hands ?

Hi OF,
did a quick search here and on speedmaster101 but i can find only 1 hand style for the 145.012, thin or slim ones. However, there are now 2 watches listed on C24 with a fatter hour hand, and a much shorter luminova section. Both claimed to be " serviced" and i will take that tto mean by an official watchmaker, but i havent asked yet.

And there is even a 145.012 handset offered from 1969 ! that looked used to me and also has the fatter hour hand.

So your thoughts please, correct ? service hands ? or from a different reference ? or incorrect and all 3 sellers suffer from ignorance or bad sellers virus ?

Thanks !

Thanks, the hour hand looks very similair. Just checking all the Mark`s and the 176.0012 is even closer match with the minute hand is also with a shorter lume section.

Could be the hand of Omega Speedmaster Mark 3 (ref 176.002).

The watch listed for € 8750, - states :

Watch in very good condition
Cal. 321 inside. Serial: 26,5XX,XXX
Incl. Omega Service Papers which states Original replaced parts

Maybe Omega ran out of hands ? But even the modern style hands would have fitted better on this watch than those of a mark IV imo.

Incorrect reference service hands on the 145.012s.
And i can add that everything else are service parts except the movement.
They are the perfect examples of what not to buy.

These mk4(?) hands are actually seen fairly often on vintage Speedmasters. I assume there was a short period where Speedmaster hands weren’t available, or occasionally no one cared to check that the hands were actually correct.

They are however not correct for any Speedmaster mk1

Update ;
the parts seller took down his add and thanked me for the info. C24 has "informed" both sellers of the 145.012 and thanked me for helping to keep C24 a safe place . They should have taken that rubbish of the site ........

Hi Ron_W,

Just when I thought there wasn't much more to learn concerning vintage Speedies. Thank you for pointing this issue out. I do confess to not paying too much attention to the hands. I will from now on.

Thanks Ron,
I have bought a few watches from William Roberts and have accessed his informative articles and viewed on YouTube. Use Moonwatch Only book regularly that my wife bought for my birthday. I will start using watchfid. Again...... great article.
