    So I saw this watch on the bay, and it has seamaster engraved in the back.
    I’m not interesting in buying, but it’s not the first time I’ve seen it and wondered if it used to be the norm?

    Not sure what you mean by this, it sounds like to me someone asking something like "were applied metal logos a design norm"
    Anyway this Seamaster text on caseback is a fairly recurrent design element, I think especially on bumper cals.

    Yes, it was. You can also see a faint "WATERPROOF" on the lower edge.

    I meant was there a time period where seamaster was engraved on case backs rather than nothing at all or the hippocampus.

    But I guess there was! Well that was an easy question to answer:thumbsup:
