Hi All, a vintage Rolex guy learning the ropes here. This is incoming from London (paid $600 incl shipping/taxes). Did I pay the dumb tax on my first vintage buy? Are the dial and hands original? Odd 5:00 marker. The 267 movement is a 16 mil with a 2890-4 caseback. Honest opinions please - so I can learn from here!. Thank you Russ in Dallas.
Welcome, and Howdy from someone north of you. I will not call you dumb, for now. Now, if you buy something like this for that much again, I will. You have been warned.
Everone of us has make a mistake then buying vintage omega, it's a learning curve for all here ,only yestarday I make a bumdeal on what I thought was an original athentic omega .good luck with you next purchase Steve
It's actually called the "n00b tax" here, and yes - you did pay it. Still isn't as bad as my first vintage Omega purchase years ago: http://omegaforums.net/threads/post-your-1st-vintage-omega.4040/#post-46633
Thanks for the kind comments guys - really. I have a group of experienced vintage Rolex buddies - we call ourselves an "advisory board" that reviews/critiques our prospective Rolex buys - to keep us out of trouble. I obviously wandered off the island with this one. I have a return option via Ebay to return to a London seller. Anyone have experience with Ebay returns out of country. Is it worth it for a $600 watch? Russ
