I recently bought a refinished omega cross hair watch from Asia.

I knowingly bought it as I thought it was quite a nice job, feel free to disagree, looks like the majority of the dial was there and it was cleaned and likely touched up.

However the logo has moved on it so it needs redoing, partly the refinishing that will have be done and partly Spanish customs throwing the watch around like a toy.

Does anyone have a dial refinisher recommendation ? It's an easy job so trying to avoid paying a lot to get it done, bonus if they're in London and I can drop it off.

So today recieved back my watchface and hands from James and it will come as no suprise to anyone who has dealt with him before that the result he has produced is amazing.

He sent me a photo of the finished watchface and hands before sending back but the result is even better in the real.

It was my first time dealing with james and it certainly will not be the last.

Just messaged him, he's very much focused on the resuming side of things matching old tritium lume and clearly doing a great job. Hes also a very nice man.

Crosshairs often aren’t centered so there’s nothing to suggest the logo has moved.
How exactly would the logo move then reattach itself?

@Davidt - I suspect where its been refinished the the pin holes have been filled and its been glued on. Unfortunately I spotted this too late and you'd have no way of knowing this kind of thing but you can very clearly see its moved.

Even if you want the logo moving (which sounds crackers to me if the dial’s been refinished), you don’t need a dial refinisher. You need a watchmaker willing to look at it.

A dial refinisher like Bill and Sons may only agree to refinish the entire dial and I can almost guarantee it won’t be as good of a job as what you currently have.

Are you certain it’s already been repainted? I can’t tell from your pics as the resolution isn’t high enough but if it has been done it seems to be a good job

@Spruce - this one was bought to sell, lots of people love the clean look but it's not my preferred ether. I also don't think people realise how many vintage omegas have been refinished.

As long as you're honest then the buyer decides. Refinishing on this one is very good and the case is very sharp so someone will enjoy it... once the logo is in the middle again !!!

@Davidt - I suspect its been done as its too clean but the logo looks sharp and the case is very crisp. As you said if the logo was using the original pin holes it wouldn't have moved, so that alone sways me. I asked my watchmaker and his advice was a refinisher. Dont want to touch the dial as that look really good as is.

The lighting is preventing a good look at the minute track. Can you take some in natural light?
I’m going to say that I think the dials original though and any work on it is a mistake.

@Davidt I'm not working on the dial, only repositioning the logo to where it should be. You can clearly see from the photos that it has shifted in transit, so I'm simply correcting an issue that shouldn't be there.

I'll take a closer look at the dial itself when I get a chance.

That last pic makes the logo look just fine. I think parallax is your enemy, not a wandering logo. I’d leave that watch be personally.
