I have a few dials with varying levels of Fungus - here is a SM300 Big T - any natural ways to lighten this up? De-Fung-ify?

Are you talking about the green patina? Not sure we can call it fungus... But I don't think you can lighten it unless by reluming the dial. It won't be a good idea at the end and your watch is really nice like this!

Haha - what is it called in the Omega world? When it turns Greenish Gray?

Was wondering about this myself. Does leaving the watch in the sun for a few hours every day (running so you don't get the hand shadow permanently on the dial) lighten or lessen the patina?

In a pinch you might be able to cultivate your own antibiotic! Might be a bit radioactive though

Before you ruin your SM300 Big Tri No Date, (which btw probably spent time in a humid environment called the ocean and caused it's lume to darken), please sell or trade to me.

Don't you already have enough of these along with every permutation of every speedmaster there ever was?

Looks pretty awesome to me as is. Is it really fungus vs. aged lume?

Is aged lume equal to fungus some times? Dirty plots?

I have a few 1967/1968 Tudors and Omegas (current and past in the collection) that exhibit the same dark grunge. My suspision is that it was the same lume used by Rolex / Tudor / Omega at that time frame as they all have similar properties in how they age, how they react to UV today, and how quickly they fade after getting hit with the torch.

The dark grayish lume is not found in Tritum Speedmasters of the same (late 60's) era. Those patina to a pleasant yelow. Both of the above watches (perhaps) spent years as diving tool watches, constantly exposed to high humidity environments which, I believe, caused the lume to darken.

Shit.... I'd be happy if any of mine would glow for three seconds after the light went out...... I'd even be willing to plant mushrooms on the dial if it would help my tired old divers.

I think it looks great, enjoy your dial funk!

These fade out to not visible at night in under 2 minutes - hitting them with a UV LED flashlight lasts a little longer than straight LED. But my speedy and my PCG killed it in the desert sun

My Speedy has much more yellow lume, with a hint of dark on the minute and sweep
