Got a load of watchmaker's parts yesterday, incl is this nice dial and dauhpine hand set.

Obvious thing to do is to look for a watch to put this in. Any idea which case ref and movement would have had this dial. Thanks!

    I'm guessing it's for a cal. 351?

I'll second Kyle's assessment. Probably not the original finish, but it was most likely in a gold case of some sort.

Probably the case Ref. 2577 would be the best fit for the dial.

I think the dial would also fit with a cal. 354, as the movement is the same as the cal. 351, except for the regulator.

    Take care,

    Eventual followup.

Seems to be an early 501 - I've found the case and movement in another box.

No. That dial belongs to a bumper movement. To old to be correct to a rotor automatic

501 arrived in 1955 - so this is still to early?

Are the dial feet the same position then?

Believe it or not, we've seen bumper dials on full rotor calibers. I can't say if this combination of 501 with a 351 dial would work, but we did see a 34x bumper dial on a 47x/49x full rotor automatic.

Certainly this dial fits the case and movement to perfection - including dial feet.

Dennis, I am not entirely clear on what you are saying - were those a valid combinations, or frankened up?

I simply assumed that because everything fitted perfectly, these belonged together and of course they were from the same source.

    Prepared to be wrong, again...

OK, will try this dial on a spare 351 movement then. If I have one, I think I do.

Seems my assumption bit me in the backside. Who would have ever thought the dial feet remained in the same place between the bumper and the rotor, not me, I didn't even think to check.

    Because you're not a frankenmaker.

Almost by accident on this one.

Now very confused. Case number is 2846, when I google this I get a number of watches with similar but not identical dials cal. 501. This was apparently the ref image from omega for this case with the cal 501, 1955.

So am still confused... Is it the numerals that are critical rather than the markers in this?

While a case reference can have many different dial vacations, especially many of the vintage pieces,
the dial you posted in the starting post is not to a 2846
Here are a couple of my 2846.
