Dial Authentication

Hello all, I am seeking the opinion of the fine folks here, concerning the originality of the Dial of this
Omega Geneve Grand Sport Racing 135.041.

I have been told by at least one dealer/enthusiast/watchmaker with significant experience, that in his opinion it is 100% refinished.

That individual brought up:

-“This is circa 1970s their fonts were perfect by that time. The “automatic” and the “Swiss made” are way off really stand out”

-“Look at the top right of this [triangle](typo) Omega used a die that was stamped all at once and would be a perfect straight level line not curve upwards”

-“Many many hints on this dial clearly show it’s refinished”

When asked why would the original tritium marks would still be on a refinished dial, the reply was…

-“When they refinish a dial they would reapply the lume, in this case would be tritium plots. This is also another indicator that it’s refinished because they did not perfectly apply those plots….. They are inconsistent some larger than others and not always centered “

I have also consulted another Omega maven who thinks the dial is original.

Here are some photos. Thank you all in advance.

The guy who said it’s refinished is talking tosh. It’s an original dial.

Looks like an entirely original vintage Geneve Grand Sport, many members here have them and there have been several discussion threads about them over the years, really cool dial variant and reference which I believe was meant for the Canadian market?

It’s worth mentioning too that this particularly Geneve case has more variants than almost any I can think of in that era.

Even the normal 166.041 has about 6 different dial variants with different fonts, different shaped Omega logos, applied and non-applied omega logos, even cartouche Omega logos, just in the regular silver dial.

Then there are variants of this case with all sorts of weird dials, racing dials, metallic orange hand dials, manual wind variants too
