I'm curious if you desk divers who work with keyboards all day.. do you take off your watch while you type, and set it down on the table? Or are we all just leaving it on our wrist?
I take my watch off when I type. Not so much that I'm afraid of damaging the watch but the bracelet kicks my wrist up at an uncomfortable typing angle.
Because if you're on a laptop and wearing a bracelet, you're going to either concentrate on making sure your wrist is elevated or end up possibly scuffing up the clasp.
I've been taking my watch off when typing for long stretches ... Less worried about scratches and more about ergonomics, etc. 15 years at a desk and you take the easy wins. Usually heavier watches (E.g Tudor BBB, Seiko 6309) come off much earlier in the day than a Speedy.
When on a bracelet I take it off. Nato leave on. Strap it depends. Its not about scratching but about comfort for me.
I hang my wrists off the edge of the desk when I type anyway so my watch does not hit the desk, but my clasp has marks on it - so what.
I keep them on but wrapped in bubble wrapping. My co-workers are now used to it. Sometimes a bubble pop and they look at me a little strange. Sorry - if not using your diver when typing because of fear of scratches... I do recommend some therapy.
Change jobs if I was sitting at a desk worried about if I scratched my bracelet on the desk. I am more worried about scratching my watch on one of these.
I keep it on during full days of typing reports. Never seems to get a mark on them. I guess my wrists are slightly elevated when I type? As for wearing with heavy equipment, not sure I am up to it. The work that is. J.
