Taking inspiration from BBC Radio 4’s long running program but with a horological twist; what one watch would you take with you if you were to be cast away on a desert island?
For example, my CWC RN diver would be a contender for me. Water resistant up to 30 ATM. No battery, automatic so will keep telling me the time as long as I’m keeping busy and most importantly it’s tough as nails so will take every bump and scrape whilst I’m climbing coconut trees looking for dinner.
It would have to be a solar Casio G shock. Speaking of which, I now have a reason to get one! Just in case.
“Climbing coconut trees looking for dinner” I’m having the seafood basket every night if there are no Pigs or Deer on the island Here is my desert island knife also. ( as same thread pops up monthly on knife forums also ) Chris Reeve Professional Soldier
Ha! I’m often defending the ‘need’ for a watch enough in real life, let’s leave that question out of my proposed fantasy scenario please
Okay, I'll let you have a watch in your fantasy scenario if you'll let me have the girl's gymnastic team in mine.
I guess I’d bring an Apple smart watch that calls 911 when you fall and just hope the signal reaches someone somewhere.
My Casio G-Shock GW-5000: solar powered, coconut-crab proof, and the presence or absence of radio clock sync might let you infer how far away civilisation is!
My initial thought was to a bomb-proof dive watch eg Ploprof, but then remembered the Breitling Emergency II which is equipped with an emergency beacon so someone could just come and rescue me.
Nice set up but unfortunately no knives allowed. Best you can do is a sharp lugged watch, lets just hope it’s never been sent back to Omega for a polish or you’ll be going hungry.
But if they never show up you’d be stuck looking at that thing on your wrist. I’d go Ploprof for sure!
Slight change of subject but I thought it was interesting/slightly amusing... last summer I went to the Fairford air show and the Red Arrows were doing a meet & greet. This guy was there with his Citizen Arrows LE getting each of them to sign the box, and the pilots were ALL wearing Emergency IIs. I had to feel for him, poor soul.
