Hi, I am new to OF. I just ordered a new FOIS. I have a narrow wrist and I am considering getting a deployant strap. What is the current Omega deployant clasp part number?
    Thanks,
    Yankel

Depends on which strap taper you want.

A 20mm strap will fit the FOIS with a little gentle squeezing, which will allow the 18mm deployant. I like a vintage brown, similar in color to the strap it came on, like this

I bought this one from the sales forum. If you’re patient you’ll find a good strap/deployant combo there for less than a dealer or EBay.

    PS - great choice.

Is there a 19mm deployant option for the FOIS?

Omega sells 18mm and 16mm deployants.

It depends on what taper you want. Keep in mind you need a strap made for the deployant.
So do you want 19mm to 18 or 16mm strap?

I would try one before buying, as you may not like the way it sits on your wrist.

So I could get a custom strap 19/18 that would work with that deployant?

As others have said, there are only 16 and 18 mm Omega deployant buckles. I assume you are asking if there are 19mm straps (at the lug) that can fit a deployant. Yes, there are a few made by Omega, but all take the 16mm deployant. When I looked at the Omega strap book at the AD, the only 19mm deployant straps were in exotic leathers (croc and alligator) and too pricy for me. There is a much larger selection in 20mm widths, including calf at a cheaper price.

There are some deployant straps made by other companies that are quite nice. Check out the Hirsch Voyager, Navigator, or Speed straps. They are high quality and come with a friction closing deployant buckle that fits close to an Omega (but isn’t as good). If you like the strap, it would be easy to switch to an Omega deployant, but you’d have to punch a hole.

This confirms what I was told at the Houston OB - black alligator was the only option if staying within brand and without having a buckle-pin hole.

Is there any consensus on the quality of straps & clasps from watchstrapworld? This friction combination, for example, looks like it could be a drop-in for under US$100:
    Strap - https://us-watchstrapworld.glopalst...euer-carrera-models-with-19-18-mm-straps.html ($41.32)
    Buckle - https://us-watchstrapworld.glopalst...heuer-carrera-monaco-targa-florio-models.html ($46.24)

I have experience with both that clasp and strap. Hated the strap (it felt and looked cheap), but the deployant clasp was quite good, although flimsier than the Omega one, and a little thicker. I used it on my FOIS with an Omega deployment strap before I got the Omega deployant. That TAG style clasp has one benefit -- it attaches to the strap using a clamp, so is easy to get just the right fit. The Omega deployant depends on holes in the strap, and so is harder to get the best fit -- I always have to punch an extra hole in between others.

If you really want a 19mm strap (an not 20mm, which will fit), check out the Hirsch Speed straps. They are more than the one you linked too, but so much nicer. Don't put a nice watch on a cheap looking strap!

Question - do Hirsch Speed Straps take an OEM Omega Deployant?

They will, but you will need to punch a hole to use the Omega deployant. The Hirsch “magic” clasp uses a clamp like TAG Haeur. It’s not a big deal if you have the right tool, but if you don’t and have never worked with leather, you could bugger it up.

I’ve used both the 16 and 18mm deployant clasps from Omega and I prefer the trident style 18mm deployant on a sportier more modern strap. I have a 16mm deployant that has rounded edges that for some reason feel more classy. The fit on this one is quite good too - I think thickness for both is the same. Here’s a photo of the 16mm

I have the 94521833 and 94521883 (pictured) which I use for the Pros I have. Also thinking about 025STZ007387 for the smaller CK2998 as it is easier to find straps 19>16mm as you would have to custom make 19>18mm.

Considering you are looking at either, the list below should give you what you need

    18mm
    Steel polished round 94521813
    Steel brushed round 94521833
    Steel brushed trident 94521893 / 94521883 (thicker)

    16mm
    Steel polished round 94251613
    Steel brushed round 94251643
    Steel polished 025STZ004135
    Steel brushed polished trident 032STZ007387
