I have recently been given a hinge-back, gold-plated, fixed lug bar Dennison Omega - 34 mm inc crown. I have been unable to find out much about this watch. Can anyone help, please? Many thanks David RG
It's authentic. It's what is called a trench watch, for in the trenches of World War One. Dennison made cars for omega in the UK. In the UK, USA and South America, watch companies often got local agents to produce watch cases, and imported the movements/dials from Switzerland in order to avoid high tariffs on imported gold or imported complete watches.
I would add DO NOT use the watch until it has been serviced. You could do severe damage to the movement if the oil has dried up.
The watch is running perfectly and keeps accurate time considering the last service date inside the back being 14 April 1970. Thanks for your help. Take Care David RG
Get it serviced! You won't regret it...Would you leave your car without a service for longer that 10 years? I think not....Watches are the same, nice dial on that one. Regards.
Very nice and classic piece I so like these Omegas with numbered hour markers all around. Here's a younger sister; '53 American Collection F6231, 14k gold fill, caliber 344, for a distant comparison:
Nice! I just love those numerals.. Have to find something simple with those on the dial. I think David's example may be RG...Take a closer look...
