Demagnetising an f300 with cheapo demag gizmo- safe?

Hi
I bought a gorgeous Geneve f300 from someone on here. It's running beautifully, but when I do a magnetism test, it sends my compass 40 degrees off.
I bought a cheapo demag box. Can I safely use it on an f300, or does it need something different?
Thanks

and while you're browsing eBay for a demagnetiser, spend some time to find out why your watch CREATES a magnetic field.

Anything metal sets off a compass 😉

Does steel affect compass?

Iron and steel will be attracted by a magnet. These metals will also deflect a compass needle, but metals such as aluminum and copper won't.

Quartz watches have magnets inside, demagnetising them is intrusive since it'll likely mess up the motor etc.

I've just tested 2 of my 300Hz's - they are magnetic too

TL;DR: Don't 😁

All very helpful. Thanks very much.

It’s not a dumb question: it’s 3AM and you must be lonely…
