    Hello,

I'm kind of new to the watch scene and am looking to buy my first 4 digit watch.

I've been looking for quite a few months, been going back and forth between a Rolex SD or OPD, that is, until I went to Qatar and was presented with high end watch stores on every street corner.

I tried on Omegas, Rolex, B&M, Breitling, Panerai and Tags, just to get a feel for what I like and what I want the watch to mean to me ect.

Before you say it, yes I'm a novice with watches but I have been learning. I started off by just researching my first two watches, a gold Gararrd swiss movement 1970s and a Skagen.

Anyway I decided that out of all the brands, I'm an Omega type of guy, and I have my heart set on getting one within the next two months.

Two models I've been looking at are as follows:

Omega Speedmaster Pro Special Edition 1861

Omega Seamaster terra aqua 150m co axial chronometer

    Pics:

I'm looking for a watch, which obviously, is appreciated for being what it is, will hold value (no intentions of selling, but a watch is an investment not in yourself but also financially) and a watch which I can pass down and still mean to the receivers that it meant to me.

    Advice will be appreciated :)

speedy pro is always a great choice. pure classic.

for me, the Aqua Terra should be the non-chrono version. I like the looks of the AT, but i think the chrono over-complicates and otherwise nice, simple dial.

of course, the OF answer is to get both, so really, you should just decide which to get first.

+1 Speedmaster Professional all the way for your first quality timepiece.

If you go Aqua Terra, I'd suggest you look at the calibre 8500 Master Co-Axial, not the chrono.

Ultimately, get what you really like, not what everyone else says.... Can't go wrong either way.

You've come the correct place for input. You may get more than you bargained for :)

    +1 Speedmaster. All the way.

Buy something you like looking at, suits your personal style and you'll enjoy wearing regularly (i.e. it's comfortable). No one can predict value, so I always recommend buying something you like -- everything else will work itself out.

    Speedmaster.
It's the one to keep when your interest turns to other models and brands.
I know it's ridiculous to suggest there are "must have" watches in this world. But if it were true, the Speedmaster would be at the top.
Not near the top. AT THE TOP.

If it didn t have that stumpy hour hand I would go for the AT and if the speedmaster was not so dull I would go for that. Out of the two I would go for the AT. You should buy the one that makes you smile the most when you wear it. As for future value, that should not even enter the equation. hope you enjoy which ever one you choose,
oh, and start thinking about your next watch, it gets addictive :)

    Personally,

I think both of them are a little too big for your wrist.

did you try the 39mm AT?
