I found this decision tree for buying pens very helpful.
    Please substitute watch for pen.

So I take it you like pens? Any suggestions for a nice everyday pen, under $100?

Plenty, but I currently like the Kaweco Lilipiut Fireblue a lot. Also comes with quite some nib variation. Pelikans are always nice. But I generally prefer vintage pens with Flex nibs

Rushes off to Google search "WTF is the definition of nib"

    Nib:
    noun
1.the point of a pen, or either of its divisions.
2.a penpoint for insertion into a penholder.
    3. a point of anything:
a cutting tool with a diamond nib.

Comes back to OF feeling like something new has been learned!

I was going to be quiet and act like I knew what a nib was...

Love it. Maybe if we assemble enough tools we reduce the "I need advice what to buy" posts.

Speaking of pens I'd love to get a Parker Snake Pen in 18k one of these days...

Ah hell... here we go again.... pens and watches!

I sort of liked "most" pens... got me a Pelikan, a Faber Castelle, Waterman, Dunhill.... all the usual names.... started leaning towards Graf Von Faber stuff.... its nice and tough enough for daily use on the plant floor (ever bounced an $800 Caran D'Ache on cement? makes your heart stop!) but then the Visconti bug bit....

The green celluloid is nice but I especially fell for the red pencil....

If you like Visconti, I really like the Homo Sapiens. Now that is supposedly indestructible.

The rhodium or platinum (depending on the catalogue line of BS) plated Graf Von Faber or Caran D'Ache pens are pretty much indestructible, I keep banging them around and they keep coming back unmarked.

I manage to run my Dunhill rollerball through the washing machine once.... amazingly, once all the ink was flushed out (the refill had exploded.... after a bit of hot water and a slight spin, go figure) it seems to have weathered the event quite well.

Have always wanted to get into pens, but the left-hand curse of dragging your hand across wet ink quashed this line of thought in its track. Will be content to admire the ones here :).

Maybe try an oblique nib for left handlers which should take the need for the uncomfortable hand position away.

I'm left handed as well.... all my stuff is rollerball or mechanical pencils (I'm in engineering).... so one need not do without this very important part of life just because the world was designed by right handed people. Go buy some nice pens man!
