Hey guys... I know these threads are a little pointless since I am ultimately gonna keep or buy whatever sings to me but I am interested in your opinion nevertheless...

I have this Rose Gold Seamaster that I have owned for 3-4 years and I love it... It is the watch I usually reach for in the mornings. The thing is, I sometimes wonder if I should maybe go for a change or not... I recently acquired a rose gold Aqua Terra GMT Chronograph and really like it, the problem is, I can't decide which to keep. I know if I sell the Seamaster Pro chances are that I will never see that watch again.

The other alternative is to go with neither of these and pick up the new SM300 that I absolutely love as well...

What do you think? Here are some shots of the watches... Including a wrist shot of my SMP Pro.

*The image of the SM300 is on the wrist of Stephen Urquhart, president of Omega and taken by A Blog To Watch. Not my image. IMG_0870.JPG IMG_0886.JPG Wrist Shot SMP RG.jpg Omega-Seamaster-300-Master-Co-Axial-watch-39.jpg

What do I think? Well, I've never seen an 18k wrench, hammer, or drill bit in a mechanic's tool box. Tools should be steel, right? To me, a dive watch that's made from solid gold is like a Toyota Yaris with Recaro seats and a Koni suspension - yes, it can be done, but it just isn't right.

If I had to pick between those three (and honestly, I totally agree with ulackfocus), I'd pick the SM300. The GMT does nothing for me (although I don't travel between time zones very often), and the SMPro is just too, well, gold. The bezel on the SM300 makes it a bit more to my liking.

I would say the 300. It's understated. Omega is all about h set stated class imo. I've always thought pure gold watches say "desperate"

What the heck: If you're going to wear a solid gold "tool watch", why not a Patek Nautilus? It's only paper ;)

Why not? B-Spec racing is actually pretty cool :)

Now, fitting a Porsche LMP car with handmade leather bench seats and a champagne cooler - THAT’S more like a gold tool watch :D

Thanks for the suggestions and comments everyone... I know gold "tool" watches are not for everyone but it is just what I like ::bleh::

For the moment I am leaning towards keeping the SMP Pro as I really like it and I can always get the SM 300 down the road as it is a current model. The main thing that worries me about that model is all of the polished areas. I don't think will stay nice and shiny for very long!

As for the PP 5980... What a beauty!!!! Unfortunately I already allocated the funds from my kidneys to the Speedmaster sale in December!

Of the three I would go with the SM 300. To me it has the gravitas to handle gold, and the two others do not. The SM Pro looks ridiculous in gold, in my opinion, and the GMT like a poor man's Daytona (if a gold watch could ever be consideree a "poor man's" watch.)

My choice as well. The sword hand series are unbeatable, regardless if they are SS or gold, strap or bracelet, they always look good. I have the feeling the SM 300 is going to be just as popular and for me already are. You like the gold editions, go for it.

You want gold buy Patek, Rolex day date or dress vintage omega. I never heard of anyone going diving in a gold gold watch.

Come to think of it, a 2254.50 in solid gold? I didn't know Omega made it in solid gold.

Even though a tool watch, it is still ok as it is not going to be subjected to the elements like a diver will. It is also a show watch as a lot of gold there and no leather strap to give contrast. In addition it is a ROLEX better resale than Omega at this level (not that you want to sell it) your not just paying for the gold here you are paying for the marketing. If I could afford it I would buy this in a heartbeat over the Omega and hide it under my shirt and admire it in private. I love omega SS sports, vintage and 18ct gold vintage only. Rolex and Patek are the kings when it comes to precious metal money watches. Rolex having good horological value and Patek having amazingly good horological value.
