So, I'm decided to start my search for a Speedmaster Professional 145.022 Circa 1974, my birth year. Love to stumble upon something like this:

    https://www.oakleighwatches.co.uk/t...ster-professional-1974-full-set/#.XI1oMyhKiUk

Finding one with a full kit would be a cherry on top. It will be a while before I can jump on something but at least I narrowed it down to buy a vintage as opposed to new and the year.

    Wish me luck -- [IMG]

Be aware the 145.022-74 was made in 74 and 75. It also has a specific dial.

    On a side note...

Good thing you didn’t buy the one you linked.

It has a 77 through mid 80’s dial lol.

    Hi,

I think you made one of the best decisions of your life. Recenty, I bought this Speedmaster (https://omegaforums.net/threads/my-new-145-022-speedmaster-from-1974.90219/) - one from 1974 - and I really happy with it. Also the wearing comfort is perfect.

One advice. The 74-er Speedmaster loses it’s stepped dial in this period. The earlier ones have stepped dials, the later Speedmasters have not anymore. If I were you, I should go for stepped dials.

    Best, Matth

Super nice acquisition! Thank you very much for the advice. @Foo2rama also pointed out that the dials were different a well. I now know what the difference is. :)

Hey @Matth1984, do you have a copy of 60 years of Omega Speedmaster?

Here is a photo of the step dial courtesy of @Bluemartinifan :

That is a a 321 dial from before 1968. (small chance it is a very very early 861) with a much later bezel attached.

You can tell it is a 321 dial by the metal Omega logo aka AML Applied Metal Logo. Looks like a new case also.... that is a picture of a watch that has some serious questions to it.

A 145.022-74 should look like this.

    Notice the dome
And relation of the S to the p in speedmaster. The S does not drop to the bottom of the p.

It’s actually a ghost bezel. That’s just a contrasty shot.

It’s a great duial and hand set. The rest is ok. But thanks! Mines a 145.022-76 made in 77. But it’s iden to a 145.922-74 model.
