Here's an interesting change of pace. Post a single watch that you sold or gave away (and later regretted doing so).

My sale was the silver dial Rolex Datejust. RIP my friend.

In all honesty the Datejust didn't seam quite your kind of thing, you don't get them covered in petrol and bang them into boat masts. Seamaster/Sub is the ticket all the way.

Just two that still register a slight pang of regret, but enjoyed our time together. 750T Sharkhunter and U1. It's a strange feeling, I miss them but don't hate myself for selling them. Kinda like when you see an old gilrfriend, you still manage a smile that she is doing well and you have moved on. The Sharkie turned into my 2254 :) and the U1 was/is to build up the war chest for a future purchase :whistling:

I'm ashamed to say I had to look up that U1, I've heard the name Sinn on watch forums but in Australia I've never once actually seen one in the wild or in a store. What are they like?

This is the only watch i have ever sold. It's a limited edition Breitling Navitimer with a display back. It's 1 mm bigger than the standard navitimer at 43mm and has the new in house Breitling caliber 01 movement. I lusted after this watch until I bought it. Once I had it I didn't bond with it as much as I though I would. It was a very hard decision to sell and I almost changed my mind at the last minute. I'm happy though that the new owner loves it.

don't want to thread jack so just a few highlights. made from German Submarine Steel so it is antimagnetic and anti-corrosive as you would imagine. top grade 2824 mov't that runs like a top. tegimented (hardening process) for the bezel. IIRC it's around 42-43mm with some weight to it, but wears very comfortable. one of the best bezel actions I have owned. double AR glass. Legibility is off the charts. Pretty much bomb-proof, bad-ass go anywhere, do anything watch.

    back to the thread :)

I'm always a fan of tough as nails utilitarian watches, sounds like the kind of thing I'd like, and a bit like some of the UTS models.

My cartier roadster. Don't have a pic of the original watch, but here's a stock pic. This watch wasn't even sold off. I gave it to my ex wife a month before she asked for a divorce. I was so crushed that when she asked me if I wanted it back I said no. I'm such a dumba$$.

Look on the bright side, at least it wasn't one of your Omega's ;)

Nope, just the old 36mm (tiny compared to my SMPC).

I must say though, it didn't wear "small". The silver dial probably helped. I liked the sound of the movement

My 21st Omega present from my parents. I was working on heavy plant and not wearing it.
Father in law lost his watch and I loaned him my Omega deville shortly after father in law showed me a new watch.
Very nice I said can I have my watch back oh I put it in part exchange for my new watch I thought he was joking but he was not. Bitter taste left in my mouth looked for a watch the same as mine but they are not about. Now have his watch as he past.

This one. I was just starting a messy divorce and needed to downsize. Sold for 5 k years back.

Wish I could have kept it. I’d bought it for 3k at a time when there was no waiting list craziness and you could get a Rolex sports model without the need for pathetic pandering and justifying conversations with smarmy salespeople. CDA2299E-F1AE-4A35-BD26-68D1A419C3E8.jpeg

Doesn't meet all the criteria as I don't regret it, but - this was my first vintage watch and has a special place, etc, etc. Near mint apart from a nick on the bezel, it kept amazingly good time and I gave it to Mrs. E's son from her previous marriage. That was five years ago and he still loves it so that's the important thing.

Haha heck of a thread revival. I’ll play.

I regret selling the third watch I bought: a solid gold Connie with a nice Türler dial that I bought from the son of the original owner. By no means in “collectors condition” but very charming. If it should become available again I would call dibs (calling @Privateday7 :D:)). But since I haven’t got a photo on my phone, I will post a second.

This Explorer which was a gift for my father in law so didn’t get to keep it but It is just such a beautiful watch. I will probably hunt down a 114270 in 36mm at one point since 36mm looks better on my wrist but the 214270 is definitely also a watch I could see myself wearing.
