"Dear Omega," (what I would ask Omega if I could)

It's reasonable to believe that Omega manufacturing follows the OF. Assuming this is true, I was thinking about a recent purchase that I would like to ask them about if I could. It occurred to me that others might also have feedback or questions for the company. (Besides 'where's my Snoopy'.)

Only one rule: keep it positive. This can still address a problem feature but with the intent on making an improvement. It also means respectful. It can a big topic or a nitpick, like mine below. Or it could just be a 'keep up the good work' message.

Dear Omega,

I love your product, your respect for your heritage while wishing to continuously improve. I also sense that you truly view your relationship with your customers as collaborative and that we both want Omega to be the best.

I recently purchased a new speedmaster on strap. I love the watch but find the strap uncomfortable. After speaking with a friend here, he said yep, all OEM straps stink.

My question then is why can't Omega make a more comfortable strap?

Thanks.

funny, but I found the straps on my FOiS and Seamaster 300 to be quite comfortable right out of the box. I also bought the Cordura Dark Side of the Moon strap and also found it to be extremely comfortable, along with every NATO strap I have purchased.

So, to keep with the spirit of this thread:

Dear Omega,

I like your straps and find them extremely comfortable. Please offer them in more sizes (short, long, etc) on your website.

😉

Dear Omega,

Can you please offer half links for the bracelet that came on the 1861 Speedmaster or has that ship sailed? I’d love to wear mine on the stock bracelet. Only full links and only two micro adjustments on the clasp misses too many wrist sizes.

Thank you VERY much!

You can use the 1/2 links from the 1610/930 bracelet on the 22545000.

115ST1610 | 1/2 STEEL LINK

I've installed many of these on the Speedmaster bracelet - works great.

Sorry you found your strap uncomfortable. There are about a dozen things we could have suggested had you asked. As for your friend, who cares about his opinion?

They've made them for decades. As @Archer pointed out, the 1610 and 1998 bracelets are identical except for end links and clasp. They're not actually 1/2 links but closer to 2/3. In any event, you can also replace your clasp with the 6-position adjustable! We can help you with that.

Dear Omega

I really like your watches, they are very close to perfection. But, some of them, and some of the staps and bracelets are very unconfortable to wear. i could not wear my FOIS with the original caseback for example. and my aqua terra on it's razor sharp bracelet with a clasp without any micro adjustments.
it seems that i'm not the only one with this feeling (looking in to the fois threads,...).
so could you please focus on wearability and comfort of your watches? focus on comfortable casebacks without any hughe imprints, and bracelets with toolfree micro adjustments or spring loaded ones. there are so many innovations down the road...
i wear my fois now on an different caseback (without any help from omega!) and a forstner bracelet, and finally a got a watch that can be worn all day long (without starting to hate it after a view hours...).
and quick change ability would be also a very appreciated feature!

just my opinion 😀

I have a friend who bought one of Omegas ridiculously over-priced straps for her watch. She had to replace it after just a few months as is it simply started falling to pieces. And then a second time. And a third. By then my teasing was no longer funny. As to comfort, I can’t say, as the (to my taste and strap collection) apparent low quality of the few that I have that came with my watches has made me never wish to wear any of them. I find they lessen the superb watches. Now I can’t speak for all straps with this statement (as they do supply a lot of straps), but those that came with my watches, and the selection of leather straps they offered me when having this discussion (from a prominent OB) I personally found ‘crap’. They look like the cheap strap code stuff one pays 20bucks for at a 15x markup. That’s mostly just IMH2CO. So in the spirit of this thread…

Dear Omega

Please continue to make fine watches. Please never repeat the crime to horology you committed in the late 80s-early 00s. Please make caliber 321 parts available to Omega certified Indy watchmakers. And pretty please upgrade the craftsmanship of your straps. I’ll gladly point you to some craftsmen who make extremely fine straps for 2/3 of the price.

Dear Omega,

Please issue a new Seamaster Planet Ocean (+ GMT) that is 42-43mm and 15mm thick/thin or thinner.

Thank you and good night.

It's Hedley

Surprising. Honestly I have only one real omega strap that I bought from a member here to try one out. It’s for my mundane non pro speedy but I have no complaints. It feels fine. Although I recently started trying different strap companies and I am surprised at the quality that can be found for reasonable prices.
I guess I would just ask Omega to add micro adjustments to bracelets more frequently.

Dear Omega,

About the Aqua Tera line...they are quite thick, can we have no-date options please? While you are retooling things, more brushing and less bling all around. Oh, and a 38mm version with the subseconds please.

Dear Omega,

Would you please tell your big brother, Swatch, to stop acting like Rolex and make it a bit easier for independent watchmakers like mine to get genuine Omega parts, particularly for vintage watches? Pretty please? 😀
