    Hello,

A friend of mine plan to purchase a Rolex Daytona 16520. He saw a nice one from 1991, serial is X901xxx.

I guess it is from late 91, or 92. Dial has the new 6 and bracelet is 78390. Is it correct ? I mean, shouldn't it have a dial with inverted 6 and 78360 bracelet ?

Bracelet is not that crucial, but I am doubtful about the dial... ?

    any idea ?

    thanks

Plenty of people bought extra dials to have it in black and white... but yes shame that is not a correct one.

    Cheers

All the 16520 series should have a sapphire crystal from the factory.

not sure if this was said in jest or not (and i have seen people swap acrylics on these on VRF) but, in case it wasnt, no 16520 ever came from the factory with an acrylic crystal. the 16520's sapphire allowed Rolex to increase the depth rating to 100m on the new (at the time) Daytona.

it really is amazing how much these have gone up in value since the 116500 was released. i almost bought one for $8/9k right after the released and passed like an idiot. add that to the long list of watches I didnt buy that have gone bonkers.

I have the original sapphire crystal of the 16520, the original owner put in an aftermarket acrylic crystal for the looks.
