Great post! Wish I knew then what I know now :) May be it's time to thin out my collection and start my search for rare and better condition time pieces. It's a good thing that all my watches actually went up in value despite their conditions. Here's are some of my favorites "mistakes"

Got a black dialed Seamaster Chronostop myself - that watch is no mistake! ;)

At over 40 mm measured 2 - 8 ø, it holds up well to modern watch size and design.

Are these quite hard to come by in original condition?

Jumbo in stainless steel with nice original dial - very hard. Most of these were rose gold plated in this size.

Thanks, I never really considered these. But I remember early on I wore my dads Vacheron Constantin triple moon phase in rose gold, about 35mm..it was his pride and joy..That's what started my rose gold addiction! :D

The Farsi is a nice guarantee of originality - there can't be too many Farsi redials.

Lol. John Goldberger also has one in his book, so I was careful to compare.

Thanks for all the complements. I was told it was an original dial but I guess it was just an old redialed. The exact size of my watch is just a bit bigger than 37mm. Is this big size rare and more desirable? I had the watch serviced and they charged $300 because of the complications. Was that too much for a watch like that? Cheers

The jumbo size is not uncommon but the vast majority of the are 80 micron gold plated. The stainless steel jumbo tdmp watches are definitely uncommon and with original dials even more so. The service cost you paid is par for this watch.
