    Hi all

I bought this Seamaster a couple years ago, and I don't know how old it is. Can anyone tell me something based on the looks only?

    Best,
    Christian

    Hi Christian,
    I would estimate 1960-1962
    Enjoy your watch!

Since it's a front loader, dating can absolutely be done without removing the back.

I'm completely without technical knowledge in the watch department, so please enlighten me - what is frontloading? Fixed back, and the front comes off instead?

OK - Now Christian knows that this is a front loader!

But he wants to know how old his watch is ;)

You can only reach the movement by removing crown and plexi from the front.

Love the way a repairman has left his mark on the back of the case.

That S shape in Seamaster can be dated fairly confidently to 1958-1962.

Probably 6xx movement. Agree with passover early 60's. Don't know if these hands were around in the 50's. The indice dial styling was a little more flamboyant in the 50's.
    Others will know more....
