why does everbody say bracelet has to be same year as the watch ?

when you look at old adverts you will see in most cases bracelets have been an option and not the rule and heads and bracelets were delivered sepratey depending on the order of the AD. It was up to the customer to choose bracelet or strap.

so you can have following scenario at the AD lets say in 1965

customer choose a speedy and wants a bracelet

    a) AD has "older" stock ones from order 2 years ago
    b) AD has "fresh" ones received included in the watch order

Umm that way round is fine but about when the bracelet is newer than the head? This shows that it can’t be original hence the issue. It bothers some and not others but there it is. I would love a 1965 bracelet for my 1966 delivered Ed White but a 1970, less so.

    I never said it, so that's 'everybody - 1' :D

    What about

    c) AD has a watch lying around for about a year (or more) and it finally sells, upon which point he just grabs whatever bracelet he has on stock (not caring about matching production quarter to when he got the watch, as he sold it as a set on the same day, hence the papers will be valid for both)...which happens to be 1~6 quarters newer than production of the watch...

unless the Extract from the Archives specify the Bracelet Ref, there is no real way of knowing what bracelet it originally came with. Even so, on the said bracelet, the date (quarter of AND the year) may differ from the watch serial year.

I think my dealer may have had me over here. There is no date code on the bracelet but I am not sure it is right for the head (obviously not the watch I mentioned earlier):

C'mon Sir, man up and wear the stellar bracelet that came with the watch!
